- Plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get to the parade route on carnival day.
- Secure your wristband early and make sure to wear it at all times, as there will be strict wristband policies in effect.
- Exercise caution around all parade vehicles, such as music trucks and bar trucks.
- Drink responsibly and do not drink and drive. Designate a sober driver if possible.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
- Apply sunscreen and bring it with you to reapply as needed.
- Bring lip balm or chapstick to protect your lips from the sun and dryness.
- Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.
- Leave valuables at home and only carry the necessary cash for the day.
- Wear your pouch in front of you for added security.
- Move around with a group of friends for safety.
- Trim your nails and wear comfortable sneakers, ideally a half size larger than your normal shoe size for easy movement to the music.
- Plan a specific meeting point with your friends within the band in case you get separated.
- Avoid mixing medication with alcohol.
